expressing the mutuality of light and darkness
Since I experience myself through emptiness as time, I approach my painting without the usual assumption of opposing forces in time. I see them as foci or functional designations that in their total exertion entwine as existence-time.
I experience emptiness as the power of wisdom that immerses itself in the intimacy of light and darkness, while also going beyond their reciprocation and concurrence.
Affirmation
acrylic on canvas
In painting praxis, I work with darkness and light as a relational dynamic of opening and illumining. As darkness-in-light, darkness opens to the original horizons of light to hold inexpressibility. As light-in-darkness, light illumines darkness to penetrate its situations for greater clarity and expressibility. The symbol is the symbolized.
